Gubernatorial Nominee Greg Abbott at Cordillera Ranch

Cordillera Ranch was the scene for a fundraiser for Republican gubernatorial nominee Greg Abbott on August 12th. Abbott spoke to a room full of supporters eager to hear his message. His speech was short and to the point. He needs our support if we want to continue to have the success that Texas has and is enjoying. He reminded us that Texas is #1 in job creation, in energy production, in farms, and when he is elected, he will work to make Texas #1 in education. He reiterated that Obama has abandoned securing our border and that Texas will do what the federal government has failed to do…secure the border.
Abbott is married to Cecilia, a native San Antonian and the granddaughter of Mexican immigrants. He spoke of his wife in a proud and loving manner. “Cecilia,” he said, “will be the first Hispanic to be the First Lady of Texas.” He also talked about how Texas is the second best place for women entrepreneurs. I spoke directly to Abbott about women in business because of my work history and explained to him that things have certainly changed since the early 80’s when I first began my career. Texas will soon be #1 in women entrepreneurs if things keep going in the direction of elevating Texas women. He mentioned that Senator Jane Nelson from Flower Mound will chair the powerful Senate Finance Committee making her the first woman ever in the history of our state to chair this committee.
Much has been said about the ‘War on Women’ by the ‘other’ side, when in essence, it is the ‘other’ side that has a raging war on women and the unborn. Wendy Davis is championed for her stance by Planned Parenthood in trying to defeat a bill that would ultimately save the lives of the unborn after 20 weeks. Planned Parenthood is even using Davis’ photo in its 2012-2013 annual report. This very same Planned Parenthood is contributing millions to her campaign. There are 5 times more contributors than ever before in the state of Texas to the Davis campaign. If it were up to Davis she would also restrict our 2nd Amendment rights and is willing to find more reasons to tax seniors. Davis is too much like her mentor Obama.
It isn’t enough that Abbott can and will win, Texas must crush Wendy Davis at the polls in November. We must silence the ‘other’ side for years to come.
