Archbishop Joseph A. Fiorenza

Joseph A. Fiorenza is Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, a position he has held since 2004. The Archbishop was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas. He was ordained at St. Mary's Seminary in LaPorte, Texas. Fiorenza has held different positions such as Professor of Medical Ethics at Dominican College, Pastor of St. Augustine Church, St. Benedict Church, and Assumption Church, and Chancellor of the Diocese of Galveston-Houston. Fiorenza also held the position as Bishop of San Angelo and then of Galveston-Houston for the 25 years prior to becoming Archbishop of Galveston-Houston. Archbishop Fiorenza also has served on various boards and committees. He was Vice-President of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, President of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities, President of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Member of Board of Trustees for the Children's Defense Fund. Archbishop Fiorenza received an honor in 1973 and was named Prelate of Honor to His Holiness.
