George P. Bush Announces Danielle Treviño as Social Media Strategist for Texas General Land Office

AUSTIN – Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced Danielle Treviño will serve as Social Media Strategist for the Texas General Land Office (GLO). Treviño joins the GLO from Greg Abbott’s highly successful campaign for governor that included one of the largest digital marketing campaigns of any statewide candidate in Texas history.

“Danielle Treviño brings an exciting vision and expertise to the General Land Office,” said Commissioner Bush. “We are innovating and expanding beyond traditional forms of communication to better enable Texans to connect with the GLO.”

“I am honored to be selected by Commissioner Bush to lead social media activities at the GLO,” Treviño said. “Digital media has evolved and new innovations will allow the GLO to reach new audiences. I am excited to join Commissioner Bush in his efforts to expand communications opportunities for Texans statewide.”

Treviño specializes in social media management, content writing and strategic planning. She has been formally trained in Web and graphic design, audio/visual editing and media relations.

During the Abbott campaign, Treviño managed content across all campaign social media platforms, including writing and posting original content for multiple accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Google+. The digital strategy integrated messaging from policy, communications and media relations efforts with production by multiple videographers and fellow in-house digital marketers to create specific content for targeted audiences. The coordinated effort was one of the largest digital marketing efforts of any statewide campaign, including online advertising, social media, and data analytics.

Treviño has a Master of Mass Communication and Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis in public relations from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University (ASU). While attending ASU, Treviño managed a $20,000 marketing budget as Public Relations Director for the ASU undergraduate student government. As an outstanding student in her class, she received the inaugural Aspire Award, an honor that included mentorship from Dr. Glenn Broom, a widely respected and published author of public relations literature.
