Continuing To Push For Disaster Relief

Last week, I toured areas devastated by Hurricane Harvey with Governor Greg Abbott, including Rockport, Port Aransas and Refugio. Debris removal and housing continue to be top priorities, and with most schools reopened (albeit many in temporary facilities), the areas continue to rebound.  I’ve been working closely with the governor’s office, congressional leadership, and the White House to ensure Texas and especially our congressional district are not forgotten and we get the help necessary to rebuild.

That’s also why I voted last week in support of additional funding for Hurricane Harvey relief. This legislation will ensure flood insurance payments can be made to Texans who paid for flood insurance and were ravaged by Hurricane Harvey. This measure includes nearly $15 billion of emergency funds available for Texas. To read my full press release on passage of the bill, please click here.
