The Passing of State Rep. Ken Legler

RPT - The Republican Party of Texas would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of State Representative Ken Legler of Pasadena, who passed away suddenly today at the age of 54.

Ken Legler was first elected to represent Texas House District 144 in Harris County in 2008, and served during the 81st and 82nd Legislative Sessions.

A third generation Texan, Ken was a genuine Pasadena native, who chose to live, work, and play in East Harris County. He was educated in the Pasadena public schools. Ken started working at Houston Wire Works in South Houston after graduating from high school and worked his way from a starting production worker to President. In 2001 he and his wife bought the company, and they also started other small businesses internationally in Europe and Mexico.

Representative Legler is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara, their three children and a grandson. Ken was an active, lifelong member at Zion Lutheran Evangelical Church.

State Chairman Steve Munisteri said, "On behalf of myself and the Republican Party of Texas, I wish to offer our sincerest condolences and prayers for Ken's family, and especially for Barbara and his children. I am very saddened to hear of his sudden passing today. Ken was a tremendous leader for Southeast Texas, and a strong supporter of our Republican Party and our values and principles. We will all greatly miss him, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family in this difficult time."
