DACA and DAPA Update

Issues: 

On February 16, 2015, a Texas federal district court judge issued a preliminary injunction temporarily blocking the Obama Executive Actions on Immigration: the expansion of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and the creation of Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA). Because of the injunction, the government has delayed its plans to accept DACA and DAPA applications. Read more about DACA and DAPA Update

Helping our Farmers

Issues: 

In the past few weeks, we have seen an unprecedented amount of rain in the Coastal Bend region. While rain seems like it would be good for farming, we have simply had too much. I heard from many of our local farmers that the water covering their fields was preventing them from being able to plant their crops. Read more about Helping our Farmers

Corruption and Robert Menendez Indictment

Issues: 

If you want to understand the corrupt nature of the present regime, the Robert Menendez indictment is a good example of it. Former prosecutor Andy McCarthy observed that a similar case could have been made against Harry Reid for Reid’s aid for Dr. Melgen, who contributed to Reid’s SuperPac Majority PAC for favors listed in the Menendez indictment. On March 25, the President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, spoke before a joint session of Congress to provide an update on the progress of his nation. The purpose of his visit highlighted the need to reflect on the mistakes made in Iraq by withdrawing U.S. troops too quickly. President Ghani reinforced his commitment to place Afghanistan on solid footing and remove the influence of terrorist organizations in his country. CHRIST’S PASSION PLAY in San Antonio, Texas

Issues: 

On April 3, 2015, Good Friday, over a thousand people lined the streets from Milan Park to the San Fernando Cathedral waiting to see the reenactment of the Crucifixion of Christ. The passion play sponsored by the San Fernando Cathedral was first presented to the public in 1983 when a heavy wooden cross was used weighing 150 lbs. as compared to the 50 lb. cross currently used.
