What Did We Learn In Houston's Elections?

Issues:

It was an interesting election with Bill King and Sylvester Turner emerging in the Mayoral runoff. King was able to consolidate the "run government as a business" voters and Sylvester, the liberal Democrats.

With the defeat of HERO especially, in the Afro-American community Ben Hall is probably kicking himself for not putting significant resources behind tying Turner to HERO and an increasingly unpopular Mayor Parker. Read more about What Did We Learn In Houston's Elections?

Camp Logan, Texas: 1917

Memorial Park is to Houston what Central Park is to New York City. It is our haven in the woods in the heart of Houston, Texas. Many joggers, runners and walkers hit the park's trail daily to make the three mile loop. I know this park well. Government Overreach vs. Back to Basics

Issues:

I love it when an organic idea or a Facebook post turns into a blog, don't you? Well, that's what spawned this blog idea in particular. Well, that and a city election that just happened this past Tuesday. Mayor, comptroller and city ordinances, as well as Texas constitutional amendments, made an appearance on the ballot and trust me when I say there was no shortage of controversy on the ballot centered around one HERO ordinance. Honoring America's Veterans

Today, November 11th, we honor America's veterans. Veterans Day, previously known as Armistice Day, marked the end of WWI. The armistice was signed between the Allies of WWI and Germany in France on the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" in 1918. America has gone to war many times since WWI, and America's finest have always answered the call to duty, honor and country. It is today that we remember America's past and present veterans. They are the safeguards of liberty and freedom. America's service members are a cut above the rest and we will always support them. Read more about Honoring America's Veterans
