A Vote For America’s Energy Future

Yesterday, I voted for H.R. 3, The Northern Route Approval Act, which removes the Obama Administration from the permitting process and allows for the immediate construction of the Keystone pipeline from the Canadian border to Nebraska. It also limits the lawsuits filed by special interest groups, which are designed to delay the pipeline. The bill will create 20,000 jobs and generate more than $20 billion in new revenue for the U.S. economy.

I am happy to see this legislation pass the House. Texans know firsthand the economic benefits of energy exploration, and this bill is an important step toward restoring sound energy policies. Even the Senate has recognized the importance of Keystone XL, but because President Obama opposes the pipeline, the project has been needlessly delayed for the last 1,706 days.
