Van Duyne Introduces Legislation Protecting Families’ Ability to Make Health Care Decisions
I introduced the ‘‘Parental Choices Not School Mandates Act" that would prohibit elementary schools, secondary schools, and institutions of higher education that receive federal funding from mandating COVID–19 vaccinations.
With schools and universities across the country circumventing families’ freedom to make the best medical decisions for them and requiring students to receive the vaccine, my bill would be a bulwark against such infringements on medical liberty. Parents, not schools, should have sole responsibility over their children's medical decisions.
It must remain a parent's choice to decide if their children receive the COVID-19 vaccine, rather than overreaching mandates from schools. I am introducing this bill not to discourage vaccine distribution but to put a check on federally funded institutions forcing minors to be vaccinated to participate in education.
