Arrington Discusses Current State and National Issues with Terry County Leaders

This week, Representative Jodey Arrington visited Brownfield to meet with students and teachers, farmers and producers, and local leaders from Terry County.

Rep. Arrington began the day at Brownfield High School to speak with students and tour the campus.

“Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, so we must empower them with knowledge and skills to ensure a bright future for our country,” said Rep. Arrington. “I reminded these students how blessed they are to grow up in West Texas and live in an exceptional nation with the freedoms and opportunities many people only dream of having.”

“We were proud to welcome Rep. Arrington to Brownfield ISD, and we are proud of our new high school and the opportunity it provides our students,” said Superintendent Chris Smith. “Rep. Arrington has always been supportive of our community and school district. He is a great friend to BISD and West Texas.”

Rep. Arrington then met with the Terry County Farm Bureau and West Texas Young Farmers.

“West Texas farmers embody the values on which this great nation was founded, taking tremendous risks and working tirelessly to feed and clothe the American people. This past year has been extremely challenging for them with record-high inflation and unprecedented drought conditions, making the upcoming Farm Bill as critical as ever,” stated Rep. Arrington. “I enjoyed spending time with the Terry County Farm Bureau and West Texas Young Farmers to discuss the challenges and opportunities of agriculture producers and to ensure prosperity for the next generation of American farmers and ranchers.”

“It’s always a pleasure to be able to sit down and visit with Rep. Arrington and have conversations with him face to face – where he takes time out of his busy schedule to come down and let us voice our concerns, which means a lot to us. It makes us feel like our voice is being heard,” said local farmer Rhett Green. “Rep. Arrington has proven time and time again to be a huge advocate for agriculture and has helped us secure our great way of life. Just speaking with him, you can tell he has been working hard to find solutions for the challenges we’re currently facing and legislation to keep not only farmers, but this great country moving in the right direction. On behalf of the Terry County Farm Bureau and producers across West Texas, we thank Rep. Arrington.”

Rep. Arrington finished the day meeting with city officials and leaders from Terry County.

“The people of Terry County agree: our country needs less Washington and more West Texas. I want to thank our local leaders for their servant hearts and dedication to their community,” Rep. Arrington said.

“We thank Rep. Arrington for taking the time to visit our community. His dedication to keeping Texas and small cities relevant and on the radar does not go unnoticed. We appreciate his continued efforts in Washington,” said Brownfield Mayor Tom Hesse.
