Smith Statement on Free Trade Agreements

The agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea are jobs bills that will immediately help our economy and create opportunities for American businesses to grow.
These three agreements could help create 250,000 American jobs and boost our gross domestic product by over $10 billion –without increasing government spending. In the 21st district there are over 47,000 jobs directly supported by exports, according to the Chamber of Commerce. I support the trade agreements to increase competitiveness for American manufacturers.
