Faisal Shahzad, the prime suspect for the attempted bombing in Times Square was arrested Monday night at New York Citys JFK Airport while trying to flee the country. Shahzad is a 30-yr-old Pakistani American citizen from Connecticut and bought the Nissan Pathfinder he used to fill with explosives from a college student off of Craigslist.
Shahzad is believed to have links to international terrorists. According to the Los Angeles Times:
The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the incident, but administration officials, including Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, insisted Monday it was too early to draw any conclusions as to the legitimacy of the claim. "No leads are being discarded," Napolitano said, but she added, "This is an open investigation that really is in its beginning stages."
