Cornyn Questions Holder Over Death of Reddit Co-Founder Aaron Swartz
by John Cornyn on March 6, 2013 at 11:14 AM
Today I questioned Attorney General Eric Holder on the conduct of the Justice Department over their involvement in the prosecution of Reddit co-founder Aaron Swartz:
Following is a partial transcript and video of the conversation:
Sen. Cornyn: “Does it strike you as odd that the government would indict someone for crimes that would carry penalties of up to 35 years in prison and million dollar fines, and then offer him a three or four month prison sentence?”
AG Holder: “I think thats a good use of prosecutorial discretion…”
Cornyn: “So you dont consider this a case of prosecutorial overreach or misconduct?”
Holder: “No.”
