Pete Sessions Statement on President Obama’s Debt Limit Remarks
U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee and a Member of House Republican leadership, released the following statement yesterday in response to President Obama’s press conference:
In the 113th Congress, I remain committed to putting our nation back on a path towards fiscal responsibility and changing Washington’s culture of out-of-control spending. In a sharp contrast to this approach, President Obama is once again asking Congress to write a blank check that will allow an unrestricted spending spree.
I stand ready to work with my colleagues to reduce the size of government and responsibly cut our nation’s unsustainable levels of spending. I urge the President and Senate leaders to join House Republicans’ efforts to provide certainty in the free enterprise system and remove the burden of debt from our children and grandchildren.
