This Independence Day, I want to take time to reflect on the freedoms that make our nation great. Read more about An Independence Day Message from Congressman Lamar Smith

Independence or slavery: Does the government own you?

Issues:
Liberty is not simply the freedom to act, it's the more fundamental freedom not to act.

Republican Party of Texas June Chairman's Report

Issues:
June was perhaps the busiest month yet during my time as chairman of the Republican Party of Texas (RPT). I started off the month with a State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) meeting in Austin

Obamacare’s Federal Subsidies

On Thursday, the Court issued a decision in King v. Burwell, ruling in favor of Obamacare’s federal insurance subsidies. I was disappointed with this ruling and believe the Supreme Court once again failed to recognize the failures of Obamacare and its impact on American families.
