What Would Jesus Do-obie?

"Mr. Simpson overrides the Bible’s core teachings about living the Christian life and true personal freedom in favor of a political philosophy that advocates libertinism."

Issues:

Representative David Simpson (R-Longview) gets credit this week for attempting to remove the last real obstacle remaining in the way of stoners’ zeal for pot legalization: Christianity. Active in his Baptist Church, Mr. Read more about What Would Jesus Do-obie?

WalMart Raises Minimum Wage

Issues:

In a past article, I noted that in North Dakota, due to its economic growth engineered by the energy revolution, many minimum wage jobs are paying 15 dollars. Read more about WalMart Raises Minimum Wage

Pete Sessions Statement on the February Jobs Report

Issues:

While this month's jobs report reflects encouraging signs in our economy, it also shows that there are still too many Americans who remain out of work or underemployed. The labor force participation rate is the lowest it has been since 1978 not only because of increased retirements but also because so many young adults in their prime working ages cannot find work. All 254 County Chair Seats Filled

Issues:

Having an organized Republican presence in every county in Texas is vital in our fight to keep Texas red for years to come, so every time a county chair seat opens up, our staff, led by RPT Organization Director Cassie Daniel, makes it a priority to fill it as fast as possible. The Melting Pot Meets the Voting Booth

"Immigrants’ political and ideological opinions will not shift American policy in a big-government direction."

Issues:

An enduring argument against reforming the immigration system is that new immigrants will become a solid voting bloc for the Democratic party and support liberal economic policies. Neither of these assertions is true. New evidence shows that immigrants have, or come to have, about the same political views as long-settled Americans. Fighting Against Government Overreach

Issues:

Last week, we saw an example of executive overreach through an executive edict issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The draft regulations seek to ban common rifle ammunition – yet another attempt to bully law-abiding gun owners and infringe upon their rights for purely political reasons. The problem is not the ammunition; the problem is that those who use firearms to harm and kill others will at any cost. Read more about Fighting Against Government Overreach

The Final Toast

Issues:

They once were among the most universally admired and revered men in the United States. There were 80 of the Raiders in April 1942, when they carried out one of the most courageous and heart-stirring military operations in this nation's history. The mere mention of their unit's name, in those years, would bring tears to the eyes of grateful Americans. Read more about The Final Toast

Congressman Smith Supports Bills to Increase Choice and Accountability at the VA

Issues:

I am in favor of the two bills sponsored by House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Jeff Miller. These bills represent our ongoing efforts to improve veteran care and repair a broken system. The Long-Term Care Veterans Choice Act would open up more choices for veterans outside of a traditional nursing home setting. Another bill would give the Secretary of the VA the ability to recoup employee bonuses for poor performance. FCC Power Grab

Issues:

When the FCC decided to approve net nuetrality by a partisan 3 to 2 vote, pushed by the White House, two things happened. The independence of the FCC was destroyed as Democrat Tom Wheeler carried the White House water and opened the door to the intensive intervention by the government of the Internet. Iran is a Threat to the United States

The U.S. should not accept any deal that allows Iran to maintain a nuclear program

Issues:
Tags:

Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of Congress, I released the following statement.

A nuclear Iran is unacceptable.

Iran’s turbulent past, along with its unstable central government prove that the country cannot be trusted, especially when negotiating issues like weapons of mass destructions. Read more about Iran is a Threat to the United States
