Ted Cruz’s A Time for Truth, Reigniting the Miracle of America was published on June 30th, and within one week had sold almost 12,000 copies. My book arrived on July 6 and I'm looking forward for Ted to sign my book at one of his campaign events. I’m still a little astonished that one with no past or current demonstrated fidelity to constitutional/conservative principle is making such noise as a Republican presidential prospect. But clearly Donald Trump is mainly moving on tapping the reflexes of conservatives highly agitated about illegal immigration. I am also curious about thoughts on Ann Coulter. Last August, President Obama signed a bill into law creating the State Department position of Special Envoy to Promote Religious Freedom of Religious Minorities in the Near East and South Central Asia. Last week, more than two hundred veterans attended my annual Veterans Summit in Corpus Christi to learn about services and assistance available to them. Our community is military- and veterans- friendly, as evidenced by the large turnout and wide array of public and private groups that came to show how they support those who have served. Texas is sending fifty-two new Department of Public Safety troopers to the Texas/Mexico border region. The new troopers are part of the State’s efforts to beef up border security by providing more permanent law enforcement resources along the border region.
