How to Win the White House in 2016

Republicans and conservatives need to start selling a product the customer wants to buy.

Issues:

When Hillary Clinton recently declared that businesses don’t create jobs, it was considered a gaffe, but what if it was instead a declaration of Democratic economic policy? Read more about How to Win the White House in 2016

January Jobs Report

Federal spending drops, spurring American economy

Issues:

I have always firmly believed that the economy does best when we get government out of the way so that the free-enterprise system can thrive. Today’s jobs report helps prove that this belief holds true today. Federal spending was 24% of GDP in 2011 when our economy was struggling and before Republicans took over the House of Representatives. Four years later and thanks to Republican spending victories, federal spending has dropped below 20% of GDP. In turn the American economy has begun emerging from the Obama-Pelosi-Reid era of massive government spending and America is finally seeing positive signs in the job market. Texans Continue to Suffer Under Obamacare

Issues:

One thing I continue to hear from the people I represent is how terrible and totally unworkable Obamacare is. I’ve received countless letters and phone calls from folks like Michelle from Seadrift, whose monthly cost nearly doubled from $440 a month to $820 and now she can’t afford basic coverage for her children and husband. Michelle writes, "We had to cancel our insurance because we could not afford the premiums. Read more about Texans Continue to Suffer Under Obamacare

It's Time to Arm the Ukrainians

President Obama must change course and give Ukrainians the arms they need to stop Putin.

The Obama administration must stop the handwringing that has characterized the president’s foreign policy and immediately provide lethal military assistance to Ukraine. After failing for nearly a year to change Russian President Vladimir Putin’s calculus, the United States needs to finally take action. Read more about It's Time to Arm the Ukrainians

Notario Fraud and Other Scams

Issues:

In many Latin American countries a notario, or notary, is the equivalent of an attorney. In others, the title denotes someone who is a public official with quasi-judicial power. However, in the United States, a notario is simply someone legally empowered to witness and certify documents and take affidavits. They are not licensed to practice law. It's All in the Name - The Name is Terrorist

Issues:

ISIS has beheaded yet another person.

We also learned Monday morning that the Taliban assassins murdered nine people in Afghanistan.

Senator Cornyn Grills HHS Secretary Over Lack of Obamacare Contingency Plan

"These hearings are absolutely no use to us if the witnesses refuse to answer straightforward questions...And to deny us a straightforward answer to straightforward questions, that's just unacceptable."

Issues:

During a Senate Finance Committee hearing today, Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Burwell repeatedly refused to answer my questions about the Obama Administration’s response if the Supreme Court determines subsidies for insurance purchased through a federal exchange are illegal in the King v. Burwell case later this year.

Video of the exchange can be found here, and excerpts from the exchange are below. Read more about Senator Cornyn Grills HHS Secretary Over Lack of Obamacare Contingency Plan
