Restoring the 10th Amendment

Issues:

On January 8, 1790, President George Washington delivered the first State of the Union address. In the 225 years since his address, the American Republic that the Founders left us has largely disappeared. There is very little left in our personal lives or in the realm of original State authority that the federal government does not control, despite the fact that the Founders designed the Constitution to protect our liberty by strictly limiting the power of the federal government and protecting the broad authority of State governments. US Must Do Everything to Contain Radical Islam

The seeds of violent extremism are planted all over the world and the attacks come whether it is days or years later.

Issues:

It was a cold winter morning in Paris just before lunchtime. Two masked men armed with AK-47s approached a woman standing outside the door of the Charlie Hebdo office, forcing her to let them inside. It’s Flu Season in Texas! And Boy do I know it!

Issues:

Sleeping most of the day for the better part of the last 13 days with the ‘flu’ is not something I was looking forward to or planning for 2015, but that is what I have been doing: sleeping. The last time I had the ‘flu’ was over twenty years ago. And by the way, I have never had a flu shot.

Supporting the Mental Health of our Veterans

Issues:

Last Monday, the House passed H.R.203, the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act, by a vote of 403-0. This legislation was named in honor of Marine Cpl. Clay Hunt, who earned a Purple Heart in Iraq before redeploying to Afghanistan. After being diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Clay sought to help others and raise awareness about depression. Unfortunately, we lost Clay in 2011. He was 28. Issues:

It’s not every day you get invited to the Governor’s mansion for lunch. As luck would have it, I had to decline our first invitation due to my husband’s surgery. But a couple weeks later, I received the same invitation and jumped at the opportunity to attend on December 16, 2014.
