I was deeply troubled and frustrated by the lack of quality care and accountability at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Our nation’s veterans, who have sacrificed so much in defense of our freedom, deserve a VA that works for them, and provides the best quality care. To make sure we meet the needs of our heroes, I was proud to support today’s bill, Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014, that brings some much-needed reforms to the VA healthcare system.

This lawsuit against President Obama is more than an empty suit: the American people have a long list of grievances that merit the legal action being pursued by the House of Representatives. In addition to changing the terms of Obamacare, the president has ignored, undermined, and gone around Congress to create new immigration laws. This has created the current crisis on our border and significantly weakened our nation’s security.
In the last several weeks over 2,500 rockets rained down on the nation of Israel. 80 percent of the population has had to flee what they're doing and run to bomb shelters to hide: moms, dads, and children. When the alarm goes off, they have sometimes 10, 15 seconds to get to a bomb shelter. Imagine if the same thing were happening here in America.

Recently, a video emerged of Ray Rice, a Baltimore Ravens’ running back, dragging his unconscious then-fiancée out of an elevator after allegedly punching her in the face several times. He was charged with third-degree aggravated assault; however, the prosecutors later dropped the charge after a plea deal was reached. The NFL’s response? A pathetic two game suspension. Remember when President Obama unilaterally delayed Obamacare’s employer mandate without Congressional approval – twice? Or when he tried to grossly expand EPA’s authority? How about when he told us all he needs to push his own liberal agenda without Congress is a pen and a phone? What I have been hearing from you in West Texas is that the President’s abusing his authority, and he’s taking our country in the wrong direction. I agree. It seems conservative State Rep. David Simpson who represents the people of District 7 in East Texas has caused some tempers to flare. He held a Town Hall meeting on July 22, 2014 after his seven day family vacation along the Texas-Mexico border. His detailed account is amazing and includes aerial views to show the Rio Grande winding in and out of Mexico and the complexities of securing the Texas-Mexico border. The special Texas House committee appointed by Speaker Joe Straus to scrutinize Gov. Perry’s job-luring pots of money – chiefly the Texas Enterprise Fund – got down to work last Wednesday. In its first hearing, the House Select Committee on Economic Development Incentives listened to expert witnesses for and against the incentives that were called everything from “interstate job piracy” to essential “tools in the toolbox” for continuation of the state’s dynamic economic growth.
