Adryana Boyne Discusses the Conservative Latino Forum at CPAC 2010

Adryana Boyne, National Director of VOCES Action, was interviewed by TexasGOPVote. VOCESstands for “Voices Offering Conservative Empowering Solutions.” VOCES Action is aimed at communicating conservative values within and through the Latino population. Adryana was asked what she thought of the Rise of the Latino Conservatism forum.

One of the forums today was called the Rise of Latino Conservatism, and although I congratulate anyone who is interested in reaching out to the Latino community with conservative values, the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, lacked structure when putting together this event. The organization did have good intentions, but I do not think it was a good idea to have so many of their own board of advisers speak, including a couple of Mexican celebrities who are not Americans citizens.
Also, the time was not efficiently used. There was not nearly enough time for Q&A at the end. Fortunately, I was able to get in a question. I asked:
Would you teach Latinos who have become Americans by naturalization to embrace America?
My question was not properly answered, but one of the speakers, Mr. Alfonso Aguilar, made sure to explain that Hispanics that assimilate to America don't necessarily forget their country of origin.
As a national director of VOCES Action, an organization that educates and empowers Latinos with Conservative values, I believe that those of us that want to accomplish the rise of Latino conservatism, must be an example and get involved with the community by participating in the grassroots and by motivating the Hispanic community to learn about basic issues of current events, government, and policies in order to better explain to them personal and fiscal responsibility, limited government, and moral values. This will give the Latinos the tools so they can make a wise decision when the time comes to elect officials at the local, state, and federal level.
After discussing with many other Latino conservatives who have been working for many years at the grassroots level, we conclude that this CPAC 2010 lacked the presence of a strong message coming from Latino conservatives. Next year, we have to have a better plan in order to educate the non Latino community about they need of the Latino vote for the upcoming elections in 2012. I certainly would be more than happy to be part of that forum.
