Congressman Keith Self Opposes Minibus Bill Filled with Democrat Policy Initiatives

Congressman Keith Self voted against the Consolidated Appropriations Act, alongside 82 House Republicans.

“This minibus bill is no different in principle than the Pelosi-Schumer style omnibus deals,” said Congressman Keith Self. “We must get back to regular order and pass 12 individual appropriations bills. That is how our government is designed to run.”

Congressman Self previously voted on 7 distinct appropriations bills that passed the House and now await action from the Senate:

  • H.R. 4364 - Legislative Branch Appropriations
  • H.R. 4365 - Department of Defense Appropriations
  • H.R. 4366 - Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations
  • H.R. 4367 - Department of Homeland Security Appropriations
  • H.R. 4394 - Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations
  • H.R. 4665 - Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations
  • H.R. 4821 - Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations

The Senate could fund over 80% of the federal government by taking up these bills today, which include provisions for our troops, veterans, and border security.

“Instead of pursuing a Trojan Horse bill with backroom deals, the House should uphold its duty to pass the five remaining appropriations bills,” Congressman Self said.
