Hurd Pushes Transportation Secretary to Support Advancement of Texas Oil and Infrastructure

Along with U.S. Representative Michael Conaway (TX-11), I recently wrote Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Elaine Chao advocating for the approval of the Texas Department Transportation’s (TxDOT) application for the BUILD Program. The two projects submitted are key to the needs of the Texas energy sector and will address problem areas in the Permian Basin.

The Permian Basin is key to hundreds of thousands of Texas jobs and our booming energy sector of the economy. To make the movement of oil and people faster, safer and more efficient the Texas’ Department of Transportation has submitted two significant projects to the DOT for their BUILD Program. I encourage Secretary Chao to approve both these projects to protect Texan jobs, promote American oil and protect Texans and truckers.

My advocacy was critical in securing $50 million in grants for West Texas Infrastructure Projects via DOT’s BUILD grant program in 2018.
