Congressman Roy’s Veterans Day 2021 remarks

I issued the following statement in honor of Veterans Day:

Today we honor America’s veterans for the sacrifices they have made, putting their lives on the line to fulfill the promise of freedom.

Through their blood, toil, and suffering, we have been kept free and have shaped the course of human history for the better.

We honor those of both short and long careers, defending against threats of American interests from enemies around the globe.

We honor our veterans who have made great contributions through their service and continue to contribute to society in various pursuits after service.

We honor our veterans for their valiant sacrifices in wars past, protecting our land from external threats, creating a strong and prosperous America.

We honor our veterans who believed in America’s divine providence, having the resolve to carry out the mission that our Founders handed down, to vigilantly fight to protect the blessings of freedom.

We reflect on the exceptional qualities that our veterans exemplify through leadership, selflessness, and patriotism, missing countless birthdays, anniversaries, and family gatherings.

We offer a special thanks to those who live with the physical and mental scars of war every single day. The cross they bear is a badge of honor earned in one of the most honorable pursuits known to man: the defense of liberty.

Today let us be reminded to thank our veterans not only with our words, but our actions and dedication to our founding principles as Americans — not just on Veterans Day, but every day.
