Legislation Passed the Week of February 9th

The House of Representatives passed legislation to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline for the eleventh time. The Keystone Pipeline is widely supported by the American people because it is a critical infrastructure project that will create thousands of American jobs, inject our economy with billions of dollars, and put us on a path towards energy independence. This legislation is finally heading to the President’s desk and it is my sincere hope that he keeps his veto pen in his drawer and approves this shovel ready, job creating project.

This week the House also passed two bipartisan pieces of legislation that would improve our tax code to provide greater certainty for small businesses and American families. On Thursday I supported H.R. 644, the Fighting Hunger Incentive Act of 2015. This legislation would permanently extend and expand charitable deductions for donations of food, making it easier for Americans to help those in need. On Friday I voted in favor of H.R. 636, America’s Small Business Tax Relief Act of 2015, to permanently extend tax provisions that provide small businesses with greater certainty allowing them to plan for their future and grow their business.
