Rep. Arrington Hosted Press Conference on Equal Treatment of Public Servants Act
Last week, Rep. Jodey Arrington (TX-19) held a press conference on his new legislation, the Equal Treatment of Public Servants Act, at Lubbock Fire Station 19. The bipartisan bill would replace Social Security’s formula, known as the Windfall Elimination Provision, that unfairly fails to compensate public servants for work they did in the private sector over the course of their career. Rep. Arrington was joined by impacted teachers and first responders to talk about the benefits of the legislation.
“I’m proud to lead the Equal Treatment of Public Servants Act to fix the inequity that shortchanges our public servants like teachers, firefighters, and police officers,” said Rep. Arrington. “For nearly 40 years, we have failed to ensure our public servants receive full retirement benefits from the years of putting their hard-earned money into the system. Every month Congress fails to fix this inequity, retirees and their dependents continue to lose precious resources they have earned.”
