SCOTUS Allows DACA to Continue
Hallelujah, Praise the Lord!
The US Supreme Court decided to allow DACA and the temporary conditional legal status it provides to 700,000 DACA recipients to continue. I have always said that even though DACA was a decision for Congress, it was one good thing President Obama did for the economy!
However, the high court did not rule on whether President Obama had the authority to create DACA, or whether President Trump and future presidents have authority to rescind it. It simply ruled that the administration did not provide adequate justification for rescinding DACA in 2017, and that the specific manner in which it was rescinded violated the Administration Procedure Act.
This is not a permanent solution.
Our lawmakers need to come together in a bipartisan manner and pass a permanent solution for DACA recipients to earn their legal status. Congress should agree on a bill that resolves DACA and increases President Trump’s funding for border security.
DACA allows 700,000 immigrants who were brought here illegally as children before 2008 to obtain legal status and work permits. It has allowed them to work legally and contribute to the American way of life. They have passed background checks. We have already invested in their educations, and they are now positively identified and taxed!
That is exactly what we need to do with the 11 to 20 million that remain working in the shadows! Capture their payroll taxes and require them to work only for employers that deduct and match taxes!
How about another “executive order?” Certainly, Congress needs to do its job, but executive orders, legal or not, are currently being enforced. Where is your face mask?
Please contact your lawmakers and ask them to work on passing a legislative solution to allow DACA recipients to maintain legal status and require the 11 to 20 million undocumented to be positively identified and taxed.
God bless you, and may He save America from anarchy.
