President’s Late Budget Highlights Disturbing Trend

President Obama has failed to deliver his budget on time to Congress for the fifth time in six years.

Less than a week after the President stood before Congress and demand action on his biggest priorities, the President failed to meet one of his most basic responsibilities – submit a budget to Congress.

This continues a disturbing trend of the President failing to adhere to the laws that govern his office. Last year, I introduced a bill, ‘No Budget, No OMB Pay,’ and I urge the Majority Leader to take it up this week.

The President might want to think twice about reprimanding Congress for its failure to act, if he is unwilling to meet his own responsibilities.

The “No Budget, No OMB Pay Act” would withhold the pay for the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and other Senate-approved OMB officials for every day the President’s budget is late.
