Turner, Ryan Press House Leadership to Extend Health Coverage Tax Credit for Delphi Retirees

Issues:
Tags:

Today, Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH) and I sent a bipartisan letter to House Leadership reaffirming their strong support for the passage of an extension of the Health Coverage Tax Credit (HCTC) as part of a year-end tax extenders bill before the 113th Congress adjourns for the year.

The HCTC helps struggling American families pay their health bills,

Legislation passed this week in the House of Representatives

Issues:

This week the House of Representatives acted to pass legislation that would provide much needed reform to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and that would help spur robust job growth in our manufacturing sector.

On Tuesday the House passed H.R. 1422, the EPA Science Advisory Board Reform Act, to ensure unbiased and balanced participation on the panel that provides the foundation for costly EPA regulations. On Wednesday the House passed H.R. 4012, the Secret Science Reform Act, which would require the EPA to base its regulations on science that is available to the public and subject to independent review. These two bills would serve as a critical step

Poe Hails Committee Passage Of The Paul Simon Water For The World Act

Issues:

Today, I issued the following statement on the House Foreign Affairs Committee's passage of the Paul Simon Water for the World Act of 2013.

When we are thirsty, we walk three feet to the nearest faucet or grab a bottle of water out of the fridge. Sadly, in the year 2014, there are over 750 million people without access to clean water. This bill uses taxpayer dollars more efficiently and effectively and makes water the priority it should be in any development discussion. Rather Than Charging Directly at Obama’s Executive Order, Republicans Should Circle Behind Him and Offer Their Own Immigration Reform Package

Governing by executive order is no way to run an immigration policy, let alone an entire government. But the resort to unilateral action does not happen in a vacuum; it is borne out of poorly written, arbitrary and confusing laws. The GOP-controlled Congress should respond to Obama’s executive order by passing a bill that simplifies the immigration system.

Our immigration laws are “second only to the Internal Revenue Code in complexity,” according to California Associate Justice Harry E. Hull Jr. Like the income tax code, our immigration laws contain numerous provisions for the president to exercise arbitrary power, inflict cruel punishments for minor offenses

History in the Making for the Republican Party of Texas

Issues:

Republican Party of Texas - After receiving the great news that our Republican statewide candidates split or won the Hispanic American and Asian American vote this year, we have good news to report regarding our engagement efforts in the African American community. Historically, the African American vote leans heavily towards the Democrat side, and while that statement is still true today,

Obama and the 0.1 Percent

Barack Obama vowed to be for the little man, Mr. Main Street. Too bad the little man doesn’t throw $35,000 a plate fundraisers. And that is why the Average Joe suffers under Barack Obama.

When it comes to wealth inequality in the United States, it looks like 1929. That’s because in the late 1920s, the top 10 percent of Americans controlled 84 percent of the country’s wealth. Read more about Obama and the 0.1 Percent

Terrorist Poaching

Issues:

The call of the wild from mammoth African elephants and rhinos has grown meek and blissfully silent.

The culprit: outlaw terrorists who are tracking and hunting down these massive creatures to fund their filthy, lucre terrorist enterprises. Our enemy is sophisticated and well-funded, but their weapons, surveillance equipment and training, food, lodging, and travel cost a lot of money. Read more about Terrorist Poaching
