When you need advice you talk to someone you trust because you know that person's view of the world is one you share. You know that person does not have a hidden agenda that may be contrary to your own. If that person stands in opposition to you in those respects, would it change your mind about following their advice? It probably should.
Isn't the Texas Solution in the 2012 RPT platform actually amnesty?
Actually not. Going back to the 2010 RPT platform would be closer to amnesty than the 2012 platform. Why? Because the 2010 platform did not address what to do with the 12,000,000 illegals already here. Therefore, the 2010 platform maintained the status quo of doing nothing which most would agree is de facto amnesty.
With the recent news of a leading scientist being gagged from reporting his finding and the recent attempt by many in the climatologists' circle to destroy the reputation of those who disagree with their finds, Andrew Montford’s The Hockey Stick Illusion is worth reading, simply to understand the mindset of the climate alarmists and how far they are willing to go. This book reads like a mystery as opposed to science as Montford exposes how a major study, declared as the silver bullet for proof of man-made climate change, proved to be wrong and how much of the scientific establishment went out of its way to defend what they should have condemned. Dear RPT Delegates to 2014 Convention,
In a couple of weeks, we will all gather in Fort Worth for our convention and take care of crafting and approving the 2014 Republican Party of Texas Platform. Each Senatorial District has appointed a temporary member to the Platform Committee. Please be sure you attend your SD caucus meeting at 5:00 PM, Thursday, June 5. That is when the permanent committee members will be elected. I am urging you to elect a person to this committee that will ensure that “The Texas Solution” will remain a part of our platform. The 2014 Texas State Convention could prove to be a war zone regarding the immigration plank in our 2012 platform. It seems that some Republicans have thought it over and don’t want a Texas Solution to what we all know is a broken immigration system. It’s also very disturbing that Texas will be spotlighted in all the news media because of this battle and we are all going to be lumped into one group, racists. Most of what the federal government does is impose and execute unconstitutional foolishness on American society. As a result, prosperity and opportunity are diminished and confusion and dysfunction are expanded. The Constitution is only a tool to be exploited if politicians can isolate words or ideas in support of what they want to do. Otherwise, it is a practically irrelevant historical document.
