Protecting Taxpayers from IRS Targeting

Last week, I joined Senator Ted Cruz to introduce legislation that would amend the tax code so that the IRS no longer creates its own definitions to determine whether an organization is engaging in political activity. H.R. 4593 and S.2067 address a proposed rule by the IRS that would redefine public service activities by civic organizations as political campaign intervention.

Members of the Texas delegation today called for an Inspector General investigation into allegations that Veterans Affairs officials in Central Texas manipulated medical appointment data in order to conceal long wait times for veterans seeking care.

Palestinian Prisoner Program And Israel

Issues:

I applaud Israel’s consideration to withhold tax revenue from the Palestinian Authority equal to what the Palestinian’s pay convicted terrorists in Israeli prisons. Clearly the Palestinian Authority has money to burn if they can afford to pay convicted terrorists millions of dollars as “bounty” for their crimes, to the tune of approximately 5 percent of their total annual budget.

In a March hearing I held looking at the Palestinian Prisoner

Obamanomics, Crony Capitalism and Income Inequality

Inequality exists for the simple reason that we are not created equal. There was a discussion in the movie In a League of Their Own between the manager and his star player in which the manger reminds his star player that she had a gift and added, “If anyone could do it, they would.” Inequality exists simply because there is not an equal distribution of talent; however, the key question we face as a society is do we want a nation in which we have equal opportunities as opposed to equal results?

That left the opportunity for, well, anybody and everybody to throw their name into the ring to take his place. Four candidates emerged and after the primary held in March, we are down to two. The runoff election is around the corner

Mother's Day Message from Attorney General Greg Abbott

Issues:

The following is a Mother's Day message from Attorney General Greg Abbott:

Son, husband, father. More than any title I may ever earn, these matter so much more to me.

Because of my mother, Doris, I learned that with hard work and perseverance, life’s challenges can be overcome.

After my dad died during my sophomore year of high school in Duncanville, my mom went to work to make ends meet. She started as a secretary and receptionist at a local real estate office. Read more about Mother's Day Message from Attorney General Greg Abbott

Update on Ukraine from Congressman Ted Poe

Issues:

Two weeks ago, I traveled to Ukraine. It was a sobering experience as I saw firsthand the situation on the ground. Our country must do more to let our friends in the Ukraine know that we support them and want to help protect their democratic freedoms. I met with Ukrainian officials and presidential candidates to discuss the unrest in the region, Russia's propaganda campaign and the citizens' fears their safety.

Sen. Cruz Releases Fourth Report on Obama Administration’s Lawlessness

I have released my fourth report on the Obama Administration’s executive overreaches. In this report, I document 76 instances of lawlessness and other abuses of power.

The pattern of lawlessness by this Administration should concern every citizen, regardless of party or ideology. Rule of law means that we are a nation ruled by laws, not men. No one—and especially not the president—is above the law. For that reason, the U.S. Constitution imposes
