Congressman Poe Responds To Report Of Iran Providing Chlorine Gas Canisters To The Assad Regime

Issues:

If reports that Iran is sending Chlorine gas canisters to the Assad regime in Syria are accurate, it reaffirms concerns that the Iranians will go to any lengths to protect their puppet in Damascus. There is already strong evidence that Assad has used chlorine gas against his own population, a gross human rights violation that is being actively facilitated by the Iranians.

My Subcommittee has already held three hearings on the threat from Iran. It’s clear that the Iranian nuclear program is only one small part of their global terror campaign which includes

Bipartisan Bill Holds NSA Accountable

Issues:

America’s intelligence community has a responsibility not only to protect our national security but also to respect our civil liberties. Following September 11, Congress gave the intelligence community additional authority to help track down and stop foreign terrorists intending to harm Americans. Over a decade later, we are still engaged in a global fight with radical Islamic terrorist organizations. To keep America safe, we must use every tool available to us. Protecting Our Free Speech

Issues:

This Administration’s politicization of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is unprecedented. Respect for the rule of law is the foundation of our Republic, and the Administration’s complete disregard for it is frightening. This week, I joined my House conservative colleagues in holding Lois Lerner—the IRS Administrator who oversaw these abuses—in contempt of Congress for her repeated refusal to cooperate with our investigations into these egregious

Pro-Wendy Davis Group Exploits Cancer Deaths to Attack Abbott

Issues:

Progress Texas, a pro-Wendy Davis group, published an ad and blog post that attempts to make the case that Republican gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott was potentially responsible for the deaths of cancer patients. Progress Texas attempted to form linkage between Texas Attorney General Abbott’s appointment to the board of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) and the alleged mis-allocation of funds by CPRIT. Twelve Dollars...

Issues:

$12. In Nigeria, $12 is the cost of a bride slave. Recently, around 200 girls went to school and never came home. They were kidnapped and, for $12 apiece, sold to the Islamic militant terrorist group Boko Haram. They were forced into marriage and raped--modern sex slavery.

This inhuman human trafficking crime is a world problem that needs action. Today, the United States took a huge step forward in the battle against this scourge. The Judiciary Committee passed three bills fighting this growing problem here in America. Read more about Twelve Dollars...

Freedom Saved From Wisconsin Gestapos

In Wisconsin, Judge Rudolph Randa ended a partisan witch hunt by local Democratic law enforcements officers, who should be renamed local lawless Democratic law enforcements officers. While supposedly enforcing administer campaign regulations, Democratic prosecutors used the law to run a cynical campaign against conservative organization in the state.

The perils of foreign-policy weakness

Issues:

With each passing day, President Obama’s foreign policy looks more like a case study in the perils of weakness, naivete and indecision. From the Middle East to the Far East, from South America to the South China Sea, the current administration has alarmed our friends, emboldened our adversaries and seriously weakened U.S. credibility. Faced with the crisis in Ukraine, it is imperative that the administration not make any more unforced errors. Unfortunately, its record doesn’t inspire confidence. Guest Worker Visas Can Halt Illegal Immigration

The following was written by Alex Nowrasteh of the Cato Institute:

There is a trade off between the number of lower skilled guest worker visas and the number of unauthorized immigrants. More lower skilled guest workers means fewer unauthorized immigrants. Fewer guest workers mean more unauthorized immigrants. We just have to look back to the Bracero program to see this relationship. Read more about Guest Worker Visas Can Halt Illegal Immigration
