REPUBLICAN PARTY of Comal County rules Kristen Hoyt Ineligible to be District Clerk

Issues:

In a bizarre turn of events the Republican nominee for Comal County District Clerk, Kristen Hoyt, was determined to be ineligible to assume office because of Texas state residency requirements. The letter released by County Chair Bob Hieronymus dated September 8 outlines the reasons as:

Section 141.001, Texas Election Code, states that, “[t]o be eligible to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, a public elective office in this state, a person must…have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding…the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot.” Tex. Elec. Code, Sec. 141.001(a)(5)(A). Read more about REPUBLICAN PARTY of Comal County rules Kristen Hoyt Ineligible to be District Clerk

Demanding Honesty From the IRS

Issues:

I am committed to uncovering the truth regarding Lois Lerner’s involvement and knowledge of the targeting of conservative groups by the IRS. These targeted actions are a violation of the rights guaranteed to all Americans under the Constitution and a matter of simple fairness. Read more about Demanding Honesty From the IRS

The Right Way To Raise Minimum Wages

How does one increase the minimum wage? There are two ways: the inefficient and destructive way or allowing the market to work. The first is what most politicians do routinely by pushing for laws to raise the minimum wage since it is very popular among voters and it gives everyone a warm fuzzy feeling. Then there is the North Dakota way: encourage economic growth and don’t be afraid to develop the natural resources of your state. Read more about The Right Way To Raise Minimum Wages

Susan Narvaiz and her courage to fight the good fight!

Issues:

It’s been a few years since I met Susan Narvaiz. Since that time I have been totally impressed with her courage and undaunted enthusiasm to try and take Liberal and Texas education enemy Lloyd Doggett down. This is her 2nd attempt to win the Congressional District 35 seat and she is stronger than ever. Her conservative values are in direct opposite of Doggett’s liberal values.

Shilo Harris, More Than a True American Hero: A Leader

Many Texans have already heard of Texan Ret. Staff Sgt. Shilo Harris. He is an incredible human being, and I believe Shilo Harris is more than a true American hero: he is a leader. Staff Sergeant Shilo Harris’ Humvee hit an IED while on patrol in Iraq in February of 2007. In that blast, he lost his ears, part of his nose, some fingers and over a third of the skin on his body. He also lost three of his best friends. What followed was an agonizing road to recovery, which began with nearly two months in a medically-induced coma. During that time, he experienced a version of hell so terrifying, the memories still haunt him today. Harris shares his inspiring story in his memoir, Steel Will: My Journey Through Hell to Become the Man I was Meant to Be (September 1, 2014; Baker Books). VA Officials Mock Veterans

Tags:

I was appalled to learn that VA officials were using an employee training slide show comparing our veterans to Sesame Street’s Oscar the Grouch. Unfortunately, this is symptomatic of the longstanding problems I have seen at the VA under the current administration. The VA is a broken system and this is yet another example of the failure of VA executives to provide veterans the benefits and quality service they deserve. I immediately called upon the Secretary of the VA to apologize and deal with the employees responsible for this insensitive action. Read more about VA Officials Mock Veterans

Push to Gut First Amendment Reflects Senate Democrats’ Misplaced Priorities

We’ve spent the last several weeks back home meeting with our constituents...My constituents did not say, "Well, the most important thing you can do is pass a constitutional amendment gutting the First Amendment – the right to free speech." That didn't come up one time.

What did come up was their concerns about the economy, about access to health care, about immigration, about the challenges imposed by radical Islamic terrorists, and the Russian

ISIS terrorist worked at MN airport

Issues:

We’ve been hearing a lot about American Jihadists, and I contend that Obama is creating them. But THIS CLOSE!

I recently asked the question of whether people believe ISIS is coming, or if ISIS is already here. Concensus was that was a stupid question.

By now most Americans are discomforted by the feeling of knowing that we have enemies in our midst. These enemies have been allowed here by the Left through our broken immigration policies, and the intentional attempt to kill the America that most of us know. So to learn that there was a terrorists working at the airport will likely not come as a surprise. Read more about ISIS terrorist worked at MN airport

Politics and Christianity: Can the Two Work Together?

Issues:
Tags:

Let me ask you your opinion on something: should Christians be involved in politics? Moreover, should Christians vote? There are all kinds of ethnic and religious groups involved in politics, but what about Christians? Well, I'm a Christian and I see nothing wrong with it. I've heard other opinions about whether Christians should be involved, often to the contrary. I have to wonder though, what would those who disagree suggest that we do? The current situation with ISIS

Issues:

I am closely monitoring the situation with ISIS and am deeply concerned by the atrocities this group has committed. Their horrific actions are unconscionable and we must stand strong as a nation in the face of their thuggery. I strongly urge President Obama to consult with Congress and the American people to decide the best course of action against ISIS. As we move forward on this, I will make sure to keep you updated as this situation continues to unfold. Read more about The current situation with ISIS
