Richard Morgan: Why I voted against Prop 6

Issues:

Without question, Prop 6 is the most controversial of this year's constitutional amendments. It seems that the Republican base is split down the middle, and people I respect are on both sides of the issue. According to the Texas Tribune, not a single Republican or Democrat statewide candidate opposes Prop 6, yet Empower Texans, Texas Public Policy Foundation, and a number of Republican legislators known for fiscal responsibility fought it during the session. After doing some research, I agree strongly agree with the second camp. Read more about Richard Morgan: Why I voted against Prop 6

Sen. Cornyn Marks Anniversary Of Fort Hood Terrorist Attack

As we observe the somber anniversary of the terrorist attack on Fort Hood four years ago, I would call on my colleagues in the Senate and the House to support the legislation Congressmen Carter and Williams and I have introduced to award the Purple Heart and related benefits to the victims of the attack and their family members. They have had to wait too long for the benefits they so rightly deserve. While we can never undo the atrocities of that fateful day, this is an important way we can show our support for the victims and their families.

Earlier this year, I introduced the Honoring the Fort Hood Heroes Act, legislation to honor and support the victims of the Nov. 5, 2009

You Might Be A Liberal...

Issues:

If you think people who protest aborting unborn babies are terrorists, but people who protest the execution of murderers are heroes…you might be a liberal.

If you think speakers at universities who defend any conservative policy should be shouted down, but pornographic public behavior or classroom displays are free speech…you might be a liberal.

If you believe that hard or dangerous work in the military restricts a mind, but graduate education in the social sciences expands it…you might be a liberal. Read more about You Might Be A Liberal...

Congressman Randy Neugebauer to Attend Events in West Texas this Week: Feedback Requested

I’m in Texas for the week, and I’m hoping to meet with you and get your feedback on how to fix Washington. Last week, I met with members of the Plains Cotton Growers to discuss recent progress on the Farm Bill and to get an update on how the cotton harvest is proceeding in West Texas. The Farm Bill Conference Committee had a productive meeting last week, during which we discussed our priorities for the final bill. I explained how important crop insurance is to cotton growers and other West Texas producers, who are being asked to grow more food and fiber than ever before. Ken Cuccinelli Edges Closer For Win!

Issues:

Tuesday, November 5th we will know just how well the liberals have infiltrated Virginia. Ken Cuccinelli, Attorney General of Virginia, has been working hard to surpass the New York Democrat hustler Terry McAuliffe at the polls. McAuliffe is being funded by sources outside Virginia, most notably, George Soros-backed PACs and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and has a 10-1 spending advantage over Cuccinelli. Additionally, McAuliffe is supported by Obama and Hillary, who both campaigned for him over this weekend. Native Virginians do not agree with McAuliffe and his ilk, which is why he needs this type of outside financial and political help. Without this help, McAuliffe would not stand a chance. Addressing Our Veterans' Needs & Ending Abuse in the VA

With Veterans Day approaching, we held a hearing in the Oversight and Government Reform Committee with senior officials from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to examine why the Department wasted millions of taxpayer dollars on conferences, while wounded warriors have waited months or even years to receive the help they deserve and were promised for their service to our nation. For example, the VA held two week-long conferences in Orlando, Florida that cost taxpayers $6.1 MILLION.

Yes, Virginia Voters, There is a Consequence

Dear Virginia Voters,

Your vote in the Virginia governor’s race on November 5th means so much to Americans in the other 49 states.

There is a widespread and growing national angst about our country, a sense that something is very wrong. It is a feeling that our country is being taken over by people who want to take over the people. It’s a deep-in-the-gut-level knowing that the liberty-based lifestyle Americans have enjoyed, is at great risk. Read more about Yes, Virginia Voters, There is a Consequence
