Voting to Expand Opportunities for Job Creators
I am in support of a measure to amend the Security Act to define an "angel investor group" and to clarify the definition of general solicitation to ensure that startup companies are able to participate in events such as "demo" days:
New start-up companies and eager entrepreneurs are fueling our job market and reinvigorating our economy. However even though these budding businesses are responsible for creating 2 out of 3 jobs across the country - including more than 1,000 jobs last year in North Texas - there are a number of unnecessary bureaucratic roadblocks hindering these job creators from growing and reaching their full potential. Today's measure cuts through some of this red tape by acknowledging the important role that angel investors play in helping start-ups get off of the ground. I proudly supported this bill to give small businesses in North Texas and across the country the opportunities they need to grow and create jobs for hard working Americans.
