Thirteen years after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, our nation’s thoughts and prayers remain with the families of the fallen and the lives that were forever changed. That morning, we witnessed firsthand the very ruthless and barbaric nature of extremist terrorists. While our country was under attack, we quickly united as Americans, cared for our neighbors, and showed the world just how strong, resilient, and patriotic we are.
During those darkest of days, our first responders courageously rushed into harm’s way and their acts of bravery and selflessness will never be forgotten. And on this day, we are again reminded that freedom is not free, and brave Americans are still fighting to protect us from enemies who hope to attack our homeland and our ideals. We must continue to pray for our service members and their families who have given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our liberty, and our men and women in uniform who continue the fight abroad to make sure we are safe at home. These heroes make me proud to be an American. May God continue to bless America.
