Toyota to Move U.S. Sales Office from California to Texas

Governor Rick Perry can add another victory to the gamut, as automotive giant Toyota Motor Corp. is said to be moving substantial parts of its U.S. headquarters from Torrance, California to Dallas, Texas to seek lower operating costs. Governor Perry has made reoccurring visits to California to lure businesses to Texas.

Bloomberg reported:

The new regional sales headquarters may be in or near Plano, Texas, said three of the people who asked not to be named as the plan isn’t yet public. The majority of Toyota’s Torrance operations may move to Texas over a two-year period, the people said.

According to The Dallas Morning News:

Brokers say the company has zeroed in on a location adjacent to J.C. Penney’s corporate headquarters near the southwest corner of the Dallas North Tollway and State Highway 121. That’s the same area where Fedex Office is now building its new 265,000-square-foot U.S. headquarters in the Legacy West complex.

This is great news for Texas!
