The Harris County mental health system, run in cooperation with the University of Texas Medical Center, is doing a fine job with short-term stays, working closely with Probate Judges Rory Olsen and Christine Butts.

Recently, my legislation, the No Social Security for Nazis Act, was signed into law. In late October, an Associated Press investigative report uncovered the fact that Nazi persecutors are receiving Social Security benefits from American taxpayers due to a loophole in current law. My bill, which passed the House by a vote for 420 and the Senate by unanimous consent earlier this month, will terminate Social Security benefits for Nazis.
Social Security was never intended for those who participated in the horrific acts of the Holocaust. Unfortunately a loophole has allowed Nazis who came to America to get Social Security. But now with my bill being signed into law,
Justitia, Lady Justice, has been ‘blindfolded’ since the 15th century. The blindfold signifies the ability to be impartial, that justice should be measured accurately without fear or favor, regardless of race, gender, religion, personal wealth or power. Judges play an enormous role in our society. No other official can by his ruling alone change the lives of a person, an entire family or a nation. People tend to forget, or not even realize, that their lives can be drastically transformed by the decisions of a judge and jury. The New York Times is reporting that the Secret Service is permitting volunteers with neither official clearance nor training to be a part of Presidential motorcades. The reason appears to be that there is a lack of resources to properly equip these motorcades.

I also penned an op-ed for TIME.com sharing these dissidents' stories and his alternative to the President's recently announced plans to relax the United States' economic embargo on Cuba.
