As Veterans Day nears, I am pleased to announce the nine Collin County veterans to be honored at his annual Congressional Veterans Commendation (CVC) Ceremony on November 1st. Keynote speaker Alvin Townley, best-selling author of Defiant, will serve as keynote speaker and hold a book-signing after the awards ceremony.

I’d like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to this year’s nine veteran honorees. These men represent all five branches of our Armed Services, but more importantly they represent several generations of faithful service to the protection of our Great Nation. I look forward to

Webelos Citizen Badge

Issues:

On Wednesday afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting with young Cub and Boy Scouts from the 32nd Congressional District to discuss the importance of being active citizens and young leaders in the community. These young scouts met with me to earn their Citizens Badge in order to complete the requirements for their Webelos Badge. As a proud Eagle Scout, I always enjoy meeting with scouts, serving as a mentor throughout their scouting journey, and discussing the importance of service, character, and courage. Mayor Annise Parker, Houston’s first openly lesbian mayor, rescinded the subpoenas sent to five Houston area pastors. Congress must stand against a deal with Iran

All eyes have been on the terrorist army Islamic State (IS) as it slaughters its way through the Middle East. IS is the most infamous villain on the world stage today, leaving Americans more fearful than ever about an attack on the homeland. With shocking headlines of beheadings and mass graves, it seems IS has stolen the spotlight from another world villain, the largest state sponsor of terrorism: Iran. Last Wednesday, I had the honor of being the Keynote Speaker at the 2014 National Conference of the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA). The FRA is a Congressionally Chartered Veterans Organization that supports Navy, Marine, and Coast Guard Veterans.

I have always maintained a strong commitment to those who have served our country. That’s why I am a strong supporter of legislation that will insure our veterans receive the benefits they deserve and need. Read more about Speaking With our Veterans

Is Hillary Clinton Really This Ignorant?

Hillary Clinton recently gave a speech in which she gave her usual talking points, but there is one line that shows that Ms. Clinton has absolutely no clue about our economic system. She stated that “Don’t allow anyone to tell you corporations and business create jobs.” Much of the speech was her economic thesis, and this statement is the cherry on top of a speech that showed Clinton to be totally ignorant of the past forty years of economic history.

Saving the GOP from Modern Know-Nothingism

Issues:

Many in the GOP are jockeying for the soul of the party ahead of an anticipated 2014 midterm election victory. Social conservatives are eager to reassert their influence after repeated defeats over gay marriage. Fiscal conservatives make the case for a greater emphasis on runaway spending. And then there are the nativists, who contend that the future of the Republican Party lies in opposing immigration reform. Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham,

Texas Ethics Commission Agrees with Pro-Life Leader and Votes to Close "Dangerous Loophole" in Elections

The following story originally appeared on The Quorum Report.

Setting things up for what could very well be another throwdown in the Legislature next year over so-called “dark money” in elections, the Texas Ethics Commission on Wednesday voted to adopt a rule that requires certain nonprofits to disclose

Ebola Crisis At Home

I want to update you on what I have been doing regarding Ebola in America. I am grateful our prayers have been answered and the two brave nurses who treated the first Ebola patient at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital have been found to be Ebola free. Unfortunately, we have not solved the Ebola crisis yet. Read more about Ebola Crisis At Home

Don't get over confident with a GOP sweep of Texas elections in 2014

Issues:

Despite General Abbott having an opportunity to embarrassingly whip a Democrat's butt in the General Election, we cannot become complacent about Texas' future as a Red State. Battleground Texas is serious about their goals of turning Texas blue. There has been no secret to Battle Ground Texas' strategy. It is all about the demographics folks. And Battleground Texas is patiently waiting for their opportunity. Read more about Don't get over confident with a GOP sweep of Texas elections in 2014
