Congressman Farenthold Discusses His Time on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee

Our district is home to five ports and a portion of the Gulf Coast Waterway. It has been estimated that Texas waterways will transport over 766 million tons of cargo by 2030. This is why I am glad the President signed into law H.R.3080, the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA). I co-sponsored and provided language in this legislation that expands an Army Corps assessment of the operation and maintenance needs of the entire Gulf Intracostal Waterway System. US Troops Get Started with Construction of Ebola Treatment Centers

It’s been said that the military’s purpose is two-fold: “To kill people and to break things.” But in the battle against an invisible enemy, in this case the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, United States military forces are tasked with building infrastructure that will hopefully help struggling nations contain the deadly infectious disease. Abortion Barbie Manages a New Campaign Low

Issues:

Wendy Davis is one of those politicians who fascinates me since she is certainly one of the most incompetent campaigners. From the beginning, when she exaggerated her life story and even made a snide comment about her opponent running from her campaign, referring to a candidate who is confined to a wheel chair. In recent debates, she simply talked over the moderator and proved that she is as rude as classless. Read more about Abortion Barbie Manages a New Campaign Low

The Importation of Ebola

www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/outbreaks/2014-west-africa/distribution-map.html#areas

Many of us have heard of Ebola but that was a faraway disease, never to be in America! Actually, even if we had heard about Ebola, we didn’t know anything about the disease. It wasn’t until two American health care givers contracted Ebola while working in Africa that we begin to take notice. Earlier this week, we woke up to more news on Ebola, this time the breaking news was that the first American has been diagnosed with this deadly, dreaded disease on our soil. Later that day, October 12th, we have learned that is it a female nurse who had been caring for Thomas Eric Duncan. Duncan died from the disease and had arrived from Liberia in late September to visit family in Dallas. Read more about The Importation of Ebola

Harris County 2014: Down Ballot Is Where It's At And District Attorney Race Is Tops

Issues:

With straight ticket dominating Harris County votes recently there is no reason to think this year will be different.

Sweep the Senate

Issues:

This 8-minute video is the best explanation you will find for ousting the Democrats in 2014 and is a video that even Democrats who love America should see.

Unless the Republicans win a majority in the Senate, and keep a majority in the House, Harry Reid and Obama will have no restraints on further destroying America, the last bastion of freedom in the world today. Read more about Sweep the Senate

Texas Governor’s Office Takes Over Dallas Ebola Apartment Cleanup

Issues:

DALLAS, Texas -- The governor’s office is taking over the decontamination process at the apartment of the 2nd Ebola patient. Clean Guys Environmental, hired by the county, is being replaced by Protect Environmental Services Inc., hired by the governor’s office, after concerns about the sanitation procedures.

Breitbart Texas spoke with Richard Cameron, General Manager of Protect Environmental Services Inc., and was told the governor’s office hired them directly because they were concerned with how the cleanup was being done by the previous team the county hired. National Night Out

Tuesday evening I was delighted to join constituents in Richardson, Rowlett, and Wylie to participate in National Night Out. National Night Out is a program that started in 1984 as “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” and now involves more than 37.8 million people and 16,124 communities from all fifty states. This unique night allows neighbors and members of the community to meet with local law enforcement and promotes police-community partnerships, crime prevention, and neighborhood camaraderie. I enjoyed meeting with the Mayors of the cities, Mayor Laura Maczka from Richardson, Mayor Todd Gottel from Rowlett, and Mayor Eric Hogue from Wylie, and local police officers and firemen to discuss ways to keep our communities safe. Congressman Pete Sessions' Ebola Update from Dallas

On Wednesday, we learned that the first patient to be diagnosed with Ebola in the United States passed away. My deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of Mr. Duncan and all of the medical professionals who diligently cared for him while he was fighting this awful disease.

As we move forward, I believe that the Administration needs to take effective measures to ensure that the American people are protected from Ebola.
