Remembering September 11th

Tags:

As I paused to remember the fallen heroes of September 11, I am reminded that just 3 days later I began drafting one of my first essays. The Sound of Security has not been seen except by a few people before today. I hope that you enjoy it.

The Sound of Security
By Nelson Spear

I remember hearing my mother do the dishes after I was tucked into bed at night as a child. The clattering of those plates and cups in the sink would

President Obama’s Delayed Action on Immigration Is Part of a Long Pattern

President Obama’s much anticipated executive actions to reform immigration have been delayed, again. The president explained this by saying, “The truth of the matter is that the politics did shift midsummer because of that problem [unaccompanied children].” He further said he wants to “make sure that the public understands why we’re doing this, why it’s the right thing for

13th Anniversary of 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

Thirteen years after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, our nation’s thoughts and prayers remain with the families of the fallen and the lives that were forever changed. That morning, we witnessed firsthand the very ruthless and barbaric nature of extremist terrorists. While our country was under attack, we quickly united as Americans, cared for our neighbors, and showed the world just how strong, resilient, and patriotic we are. Congressman Smith Responds to President's Plan for ISIS Threat

Today we mark the thirteenth anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on the U.S. in American history. America will never forget the thousands who lost their lives and loved ones on that day in 2001. I will never forget that morning when a plane struck the Pentagon as I was driving by on my way to work. Those cowardly attacks forever changed our nation.

The September 11, 2012 attacks in Benghazi took the lives of a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans, reminding us that threats still remain.

Obama's Problem is Not his Incompetency!

The recent disaster in foreign affairs has put Obama's competency into question, and for many on both sides, Obama's failure is more about his incompetency as opposed to the results of his ideology. Democrats have an interest to show that the present mess in foreign affairs is the result of Obama's incompetency, particularly Hillary Clinton, who will run as the moderately competent Democrat, unlike the present

REPUBLICAN PARTY of Comal County rules Kristen Hoyt Ineligible to be District Clerk

Issues:

In a bizarre turn of events the Republican nominee for Comal County District Clerk, Kristen Hoyt, was determined to be ineligible to assume office because of Texas state residency requirements. The letter released by County Chair Bob Hieronymus dated September 8 outlines the reasons as:

Section 141.001, Texas Election Code, states that, “[t]o be eligible to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, a public elective office in this state, a person must…have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding…the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot.” Tex. Elec. Code, Sec. 141.001(a)(5)(A). Read more about REPUBLICAN PARTY of Comal County rules Kristen Hoyt Ineligible to be District Clerk

Demanding Honesty From the IRS

Issues:

I am committed to uncovering the truth regarding Lois Lerner’s involvement and knowledge of the targeting of conservative groups by the IRS. These targeted actions are a violation of the rights guaranteed to all Americans under the Constitution and a matter of simple fairness. Read more about Demanding Honesty From the IRS

The Right Way To Raise Minimum Wages

How does one increase the minimum wage? There are two ways: the inefficient and destructive way or allowing the market to work. The first is what most politicians do routinely by pushing for laws to raise the minimum wage since it is very popular among voters and it gives everyone a warm fuzzy feeling. Then there is the North Dakota way: encourage economic growth and don’t be afraid to develop the natural resources of your state. Read more about The Right Way To Raise Minimum Wages

Susan Narvaiz and her courage to fight the good fight!

Issues:

It’s been a few years since I met Susan Narvaiz. Since that time I have been totally impressed with her courage and undaunted enthusiasm to try and take Liberal and Texas education enemy Lloyd Doggett down. This is her 2nd attempt to win the Congressional District 35 seat and she is stronger than ever. Her conservative values are in direct opposite of Doggett’s liberal values.

Shilo Harris, More Than a True American Hero: A Leader

Many Texans have already heard of Texan Ret. Staff Sgt. Shilo Harris. He is an incredible human being, and I believe Shilo Harris is more than a true American hero: he is a leader. Staff Sergeant Shilo Harris’ Humvee hit an IED while on patrol in Iraq in February of 2007. In that blast, he lost his ears, part of his nose, some fingers and over a third of the skin on his body. He also lost three of his best friends. What followed was an agonizing road to recovery, which began with nearly two months in a medically-induced coma. During that time, he experienced a version of hell so terrifying, the memories still haunt him today. Harris shares his inspiring story in his memoir, Steel Will: My Journey Through Hell to Become the Man I was Meant to Be (September 1, 2014; Baker Books).
