As we remember the tragic occurrences of 9/11 we must also recognize that we still live with the very real threat of continued acts of terrorism. Two American journalists have been savagely executed and the Middle East remains unstable. We Need to Rebuild a VA That Will Serve, Care, and Treat Veterans With Dignity

I met with a group of doctors from the Nueces County Medical Association to encourage them to start accepting VA medical vouchers again so our veterans can receive the quick and effective treatment they have earned. One of the changes made under H.R. 3230 allows veterans to seek care outside the VA if there are unreasonable delays in receiving treatments. Once our local doctors feel confident that they will be compensated for their services in a timely manner they will again be able to accept VA vouchers.

I am a strong supporter of H.R. 3230, the Veterans' Access to Care Through Choice, Accountability and Transparency Act, a bi-partisan effort to make the necessary reforms to improve patient care

SPC Justin Lane Receives HERO’S WELCOME with New Home in Comal County

Patriotism is alive and well in Comal County. SPC Justin “JP” Lane received a hero’s welcome on September 11, 2014 with a parade and BBQ, Texas-style. The event was to present JP, as he is called, with a home in Smithson Valley. He was given the ‘keys’ to his new house by HelpingAHero.org. Congressman Lamar Smith to Seek Subpoena for Information on White House Role in Security of Healthcare.gov

Today, I officially noticed a meeting of the Oversight Subcommittee for Wednesday, September 17, 2014, to enable Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Paul Broun (R-Ga.) to issue a subpoena to former U.S. Chief Technology Officer Todd Park, a top Assistant to President Obama during the launch of HealthCare.gov last November. School Answers for Denying Entry to Father Wearing Army Uniform

A twenty-four year Army officer was denied entrance to his daughter’s high school in Rochester, Michigan. His offense? He was wearing the uniform of the United States Army.

Army Lt. Colonel Sherwood Baker went to his daughter’s high school when he was greeted at the door by a Rochester Adams High School security guard. He went to the school with his daughter to help her learn her way around the school. The security guard informed Colonel Sherwood he would have to go home and change clothes before he could be granted entry into the building. Obama: Order and Progress Can Only Come When Individuals Surrender Their Rights to an All-Powerful Sovereign

This is a good article about the statement in the title which Obama made and then qualified his intention in it.

There was controversy over whether sharp reactions had taken the statement out of context.  I suspect that, as is typical, Obama was trying to appear on different sides of the matter for different audiences. This article proposes that Obama tried to disown the straightforward
