Working Toward American Energy Independence

Right now, our country is in the middle of an unprecedented energy boom—since 2008, domestic oil production has risen by more than 66 percent. Technological advances and new discoveries have made American energy independence by the end of the decade an attainable goal. In fact, we’ve gained access to more oil and natural gas in the past decade than ever before. Read more about Working Toward American Energy Independence

Happy 4th of July: A Story Francis Scott Key and Sam Houston

As America celebrates the 238th anniversary of our Independence this July 4th, I wanted to share a story with you all about Francis Scott Key and Sam Houston, two very important men to not only our country, but our great state of Texas.

Francis Scott Key is best known for being the author of our National Anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner.'' During the second American revolution, the War of 1812, the British reinvaded the United States, captured Washington, DC, burned the Capitol, the White House and most of this city. Popular Culture and the Movie, "America: Imagine The World Without Her"

I expect this will be typical of others who even discuss the movie at all. The movie reporting web site, IMDb had a short review of the movie "America: Imagine The World Without Her," in a report titled, "Lionsgate to Distribute Controversial Documentary ‘America: Imagine a World Without Her’" "Controversial," right? I defy anyone to watch the movie and describe what is "controversial" about it, other than the fact that it contests the popular

An Apology to All Veterans

To all Veterans:

You represent the the spirit that once made America a super power. I apologize that our government and some of our people do not give you the respect and services you deserve, in spite of the fact that we all know you did not enlist in the military in order to receive gratitude. You served because you believe in the founding principles of this great nation. Read more about An Apology to All Veterans

Pete Sessions Statement on June Jobs Report

Issues:

Today I released the following statement regarding the June unemployment report:

While I am pleased that some Americans have been able to find work in the last month, Democrat policies continue to hinder the economy from the robust growth that would lead to long term dynamic job creation. 17 million Americans are unemployed or are stuck with part time work when they would like a full time job.

Family Reunification and Other Explanations for the Border Surge of Unaccompanied Children

There are two main issues surrounding the increase in the migration of unaccompanied children (UAC) and asylum seekers in recent years that have recently reached crisis proportions. The first is the treatment of those children who are apprehended by Border Patrol and how American policy is reacting to the surge.

The second is explaining why UACs are coming. Below I will lay out three different theories that attempt to explain the surge in UACs. Each theory has some merit and I present evidence in support and opposition to each one. Read more about Family Reunification and Other Explanations for the Border Surge of Unaccompanied Children

Boycott Mexico? Time To Boycott Illegal Drugs!

A few days ago on June 26th, during the O’Reilly Factor seen on FOX TV, Bill O’Reilly made an extreme request. He asked the listening audience that maybe it was time to Boycott Mexico because of all the unattended minor children crossing our borders. You know, to stop buying products from Mexico and to stop traveling into Mexico. O’Reilly got me thinking. Should we Boycott Mexico because of the innocent children entering the United States or boycott Mexico because of the cartel drug trafficking? Read more about Boycott Mexico? The Texas House-Representing Voters or Subsidized Developers?

The other night at The MET Youth Building, State Representative Allen Fletcher faced a crowd of over 500 concerned, and might I add, a tad angry, constituency. The source of their anger? Two projected low-income housing units to be built in the Cypress area; one at Queenston and W. Little York called the Catalon, the other to the north of 290 near the Ravensway subdivision, named The Lodge of Huffmeister.

On hand to kick things off was James Hardin, president of The Cypress Coalition. He and his wife, Barbara Hardin have started this group in order to fight the possible construction of these two facilities.
