Cheers for Citizens United!

My good friend and editor of HollywoodRepublican.net, Frank DeMartini, has always expressed his doubt that Hillary Clinton would actually run for office. As of now, she is the overwhelming favorite, even with the poor roll out of her book, Hard Choices, in which she reminded many Democratic voters that she is not her husband when it comes to campaigning. The one lesson that many pundits fail to grasp is the affect of Citizens United and the role of billionaires like the Koch brothers.

What Was the American Revolution All About?

With our recent celebration of Independence Day, I talked to Kevin Gutzman, author of (among other titles) James Madison and the Making of America, about the American Revolution. We subscribe to the out-of-fashion but nevertheless correct view that the Revolution was fundamentally a constitutional conflict. It’s a great discussion. I’m really thrilled with this episode.

Hispanic Growth Not Turning Texas Blue as Expected

Issues:

The enormous growth of the Hispanic population does not seem to be turning Texas blue as fast as many political pundits expected. Recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau revealed a decreasing non-Hispanic white population and a rapidly growing Hispanic population. The growth of the Hispanic population over the past fourteen years was expected to make a huge difference in Texas’ Republican vs. Democrat voting patterns. It appears it has not. Fighting EPA’s Aggressive Overregulation

Congress passed the Clean Water Act in 1972 to ensure the federal government and states would work together to efficiently reduce pollution in our nation’s waterways. And in the last forty years, the Administration has repeatedly tried to squash states’ rights and expand its own authority under this law. Most recently, the EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced their proposal to give the federal government authority to regulate all sorts of new waterways, in a rule that could extend federal authority to even runoff ditches and stock ponds. This is clearly an aggressive overreach that stomps on the original intent of the law and will have some serious consequences if it is fully implemented.

Senator Cornyn: Border Visit Would Be “Wakeup Call” for the President

I spoke on the Senate floor today on the humanitarian crisis at the border and urged President Obama to visit the border during his upcoming trip to Texas.

I recently visited McAllen, Texas myself a week ago today, and it is heartbreaking to see these young children without their parents.

So, What Do You Think? Ben Carson For President?

Dr. Ben Carson is the antithesis of Barack Obama, which is to say, Dr. Carson is logical and competent. He doesn’t just work on brains, he actually USES his!

Dr. Carson make a lot of sense, and that vexes the Left.

Only the frivolous Left would argue that their policies have led to utter destruction of the black community, with the larger community on life support. Read more about So, What Do You Think? Ben Carson For President?

Megyn Kelly vs Bill Ayers

While watching the Megyn Kelly drilling of Bill Ayers, several thoughts popped into my mind. The first is how does a known terrorist and Marxist become an accepted part of the Chicago political establishment? Imagine the outrage from the left if a former right wing militant who conducted a terrorist activity decades earlier suddenly become part of the local Republican establishment?

Immigration: The New Civil Rights Movement

"Why politics?" I am often asked, “What in the world made you decide to participate in politics?” Texas politics is well known to be a tumble-and-rumble sport. It is one of the most gruesome, unforgiving, vile, and cruel “sports” if you ask me; and oftentimes I think that perhaps it is a sport that you put first before your own convictions—whether religious or Constitutional. But politics is also a means to an end,
