Congressman Smith to Obama: Enforce the Laws as Congress Wrote Them

The Obama Administration has ignored laws, failed to enforce laws, undermined laws, and changed laws by executive orders and administrative actions.

These include laws covering health care, immigration, marriage, drugs, and welfare requirements.

Other presidents have issued more executive orders but no president has issued so many broad and expansive executive orders that stretch the Constitution to its breaking point. Read more about Congressman Smith to Obama: Enforce the Laws as Congress Wrote Them

Cornyn Calls on Democrats to Protect Seniors

I spoke on the Senate floor yesterday, urging Senate Democrats to protect seniors from Medicare cuts to fund Obamacare. The Administration is making changes to Medicare Advantage that will cause premiums to increase, reduce choices and result in seniors losing access to the health care plans they were promised they could keep. The Importance of the Attorney General in Fighting Government Expansion

Issues:

U.S. vs. Darby Lumber Co. (1941) is one of the most destructive Supreme Court decisions ever handed down by the high court. Through this decision the Court gave near unlimited application of the Commerce Clause—thus being a precursor to the Obamacare decision issued by the Roberts Court—which consequently gutted the 10th Amendment of all the Founders’ intended meaning. Justice Stone, writing for a unanimous Court, wrote

Running a winning panel discussion

Issues:

We’ve all been forced to sit through them, like high school detention with a speaker: a poorly run panel discussion at a meeting, training or conference. Like everything else in life, there are many wrong ways, and a few right ways, to build a successful panel discussion that holds audience attention and actually contributes to accomplishing the event’s goals.

Stop Government Abuse Week

This week, the House will vote on a series of bills that will help rein in government abuse and stop President Obama from exceeding his executive authority. We’re designating it Stop Government Abuse Week, and our focus will be on good-government bills that hold Washington accountable to the American people. The bills we’re voting on this week cover a wide range of issues—from private property rights to bringing transparency to regulations.

Poll: Wendy Davis Slipping While Greg Abbott Soars

Issues:

In a poll released today by the Texas Tribune, Texas State Senator Wendy Davis trails Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott by eleven points. The margin between Abbott and Davis has nearly doubled since the same poll conducted in October, 2013.

Issues:

The Glenn Hegar for Texas Comptroller campaign has come out with a new tv ad. The new ad is titled “Our Future.” One of my favorite lines of this new ad is that Hegar chaired a committee to eliminate waste and inefficiency in government, saving taxpayers millions. I did not even know this about Hegar, but I am glad I now do. Read more about Glenn Hegar’s New Ad Hits Home – Cut Waste and Inefficiency – Texas Comptroller Race Update

Senator Cruz: Venezuela Can and Should be Prosperous

Issues:

As opposition protests drag into their second week in Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro is taking a page out of the Castro playbook to violently oppress Venezuelans who are demanding an end to his disastrous rule. Activists have been detained and abused, and even shot dead in the streets. Opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, who has emerged as a powerful voice

Gov. Rick Perry: Barry Smitherman is “the Real Deal” – Texas Attorney General Race Update

Issues:

The race is on for the next Texas Attorney General. Early voting has already begun and it lasts until February 28th. The Texas Republican Primary Election Day is March 4th, 2014.

One Texas Attorney General candidate, Barry Smitherman, stands out above the rest. The Texas Attorney General’s office is one of the largest statewide offices in Texas. As the Chairman of the Texas Railroad Commission, and the former head of Public utilities, Barry Smitherman is the only candidate that has proven he can effectively and efficiently run a large statewide agency.
