Honoring Exceptional Local Students in West Texas

Today, I had the privilege of meeting with some talented high school students in Lubbock. I visited Trinity Christian High School, where I presented senior Daniel Kale Wilsford with his appointment to the Military Academy at West Point. Every year, dozens of smart, athletic, and dedicated students apply for a nomination to one of our nation’s military academies. Once nominated, they compete against the best and brightest in the country for acceptance

2014 Primary Voting Locations

Issues:

For many candidates in the 2014 Joint Primary today marks the end of a very long road. From a hotly challenges U.S. Senate race to the local party chair at the bottom of the ballot, many candidates’ journeys will come to an end and the victors will start anew towards a general challenger in November—with exception to those subject to Texas’ new 11 week runoff election scheduled for May 27th. Senator Cruz: The United States Should Stand With Ukraine

Issues:

The situation unfolding in Ukraine right now is a harsh lesson that no matter how great the victory, we must never rest on our laurels. After the United States won the Cold War and the Soviet Union ceased to exist in 1991, many on both sides of the aisle believed that the Soviet threat to freedom was a thing of the past and that the new, democratic Russia would be a reasonable partner and even an ally.

Recent events demonstrate this is not the case. Vladimir Putin barely waited for the flame of the Olympic torch in Sochi to be extinguished before he turned his attention to crushing the most recent attempt of the Ukrainian

Who is Missing From These Pictures? – Stunning No-Show at the HCRP

Issues:

There was a remarkable event Monday morning at the headquarters of the Harris County Republican Party. It was a packed standing room only crowd expressing unity at a Republican press conference with a wide swath of Texans, not just Houstonians, in attendance. Several notable politicians were there taking time out of their busy day- before-the-election schedule to be there. There was a stunning no-show as well.

Glenn Hegar for Comptroller Walks the Walk – Passed Massive Tax Cuts

Issues:

Many people have wondered how I came to the conclusion to personally support Senator Glenn Hegar for Texas Comptroller of Public accounts over the other candidates. The answer is simple. I have seen Glenn Hegar walk the walk and not just talk the talk. In the 2013 Texas legislative session, Senator Glenn Hegar pushed through a massive franchise tax relief bill that cut taxes on businesses by hundreds of millions of dollars. Interestingly enough, the bill was introduced in the Texas House by Hilderbran, who is also running for Texas Comptroller. As Promised, the COLA Cuts to Veterans Have Been Stopped

Following our vote to restore COLAs for all existing military retirees, I’m pleased to share that the President has since signed the bill - meaning the fix to restore military retirees’ benefits is now law.

Republican, not Libertarian, Resolutions for the RPT

Issues:

I just read a lengthy list of long-winded resolutions, evidently sent out from Libertarians to their followers who are attending Republican Precinct Conventions. Here’s a bit of my response:

RESOLVED, the legitimate purpose of government is to protect the inalienable rights of individuals from infringement by others.

RESOLVED, any resolution with more than two “Whereas” clauses will be ignored by all RPT Conventions. Read more about Republican, not Libertarian, Resolutions for the RPT

Is the Harris County GOP Low Hanging Fruit for the Democrats?

Issues:

So, clearly I have a dog in the fight for the Harris County GOP Chairman's race. Every Republican voter in Harris County should have a dog in the fight for this race; it is ground zero for the future of the nation, I kid you not. Jared Woodfill, the current county chairmen and his loyal followers, (based on the fear that Jared will lose his bid for re-election) have laid claim to the moral future of Harris County.
