EPA Rushes Rule to Regulate America’s Waterways

Today I sent a letter to the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) outlining concerns about the process by which the EPA is attempting to expand its jurisdiction under the Clean Water Act (CWA). Last month, I raised concerns that the Obama Administration’s rushed process could give EPA unprecedented new authority over seasonal streams and ditches on private property.

Rather than allowing time for a review of their proposed regulations, the EPA is rushing forward regardless of whether the science actually supports the rule. The proposed rule could give the EPA unprecedented power over private property in the U.S. Racing through the approval process without proper peer review

Texas Lt. Governor Forum – San Antonio, Texas

Issues:

The Bexar County Republican Party sponsored a Texas Lt Governor Forum in San Antonio at Pedrotti’s Ranch on Saturday, November 2, 2013. Candidates present who thought enough of their candidacy and the audience were Dan Patrick, Jerry Patterson and Todd Staples. All seasoned Republicans. Patrick is a Texas State Senator District 7, Patterson is the Land Commissioner and Staples is the Agriculture Commissioner. Patrick was accompanied by his wife Jan and Staples also had his wife Jane present at the forum. Read more about Texas Lt. Governor Forum – San Antonio, Texas

Richard Morgan: Why I voted against Prop 6

Issues:

Without question, Prop 6 is the most controversial of this year's constitutional amendments. It seems that the Republican base is split down the middle, and people I respect are on both sides of the issue. According to the Texas Tribune, not a single Republican or Democrat statewide candidate opposes Prop 6, yet Empower Texans, Texas Public Policy Foundation, and a number of Republican legislators known for fiscal responsibility fought it during the session. After doing some research, I agree strongly agree with the second camp. Read more about Richard Morgan: Why I voted against Prop 6

Sen. Cornyn Marks Anniversary Of Fort Hood Terrorist Attack

As we observe the somber anniversary of the terrorist attack on Fort Hood four years ago, I would call on my colleagues in the Senate and the House to support the legislation Congressmen Carter and Williams and I have introduced to award the Purple Heart and related benefits to the victims of the attack and their family members. They have had to wait too long for the benefits they so rightly deserve. While we can never undo the atrocities of that fateful day, this is an important way we can show our support for the victims and their families.

Earlier this year, I introduced the Honoring the Fort Hood Heroes Act, legislation to honor and support the victims of the Nov. 5, 2009

You Might Be A Liberal...

Issues:

If you think people who protest aborting unborn babies are terrorists, but people who protest the execution of murderers are heroes…you might be a liberal.

If you think speakers at universities who defend any conservative policy should be shouted down, but pornographic public behavior or classroom displays are free speech…you might be a liberal.

If you believe that hard or dangerous work in the military restricts a mind, but graduate education in the social sciences expands it…you might be a liberal. Read more about You Might Be A Liberal...

Congressman Randy Neugebauer to Attend Events in West Texas this Week: Feedback Requested

I’m in Texas for the week, and I’m hoping to meet with you and get your feedback on how to fix Washington. Last week, I met with members of the Plains Cotton Growers to discuss recent progress on the Farm Bill and to get an update on how the cotton harvest is proceeding in West Texas. The Farm Bill Conference Committee had a productive meeting last week, during which we discussed our priorities for the final bill. I explained how important crop insurance is to cotton growers and other West Texas producers, who are being asked to grow more food and fiber than ever before.
