Pete Sessions Statement on August Jobs Report

Issues:

As I review the details of today’s jobs report, I remain deeply concerned about the impact of ObamaCare on full-time jobs. Businesses across our nation have stopped hiring, laid off workers, and cut employee hours to part-time due to the health care law’s burdensome costs and regulations. Kneel to the Teacher but Not to God

It’s no secret how I feel about wackademia in America. It’s a government-sanctioned racket. They steal money and teach our children very little. Public schools are government indoctrination centers meant to teach children how NOT to think for themselves. Public schools in America are one step above prisons. And if the schools are in minority communities, then they are indeed minimum security prisons, with evening furloughs, or on-ramps to maximum security prison. So when I heard that a public school in CA makes its student kneel, I wasn’t surprised. Read more about Kneel to the Teacher but Not to God

Female U.S. National Park Worker Attacked Near Mexican Border

Issues:

A 60-year old woman working for the National Park Service has been critically hurt in an attack in Arizona near the Mexican border. Authorities have not stated if the attack came from a Mexican national who entered the U.S. illegally, but the remote area of the attack is heavily traversed by both illegal immigrants and narcotics traffickers.

The victim, Karen Gonzales, was found in a public restroom, unconscious and with a serious head injury. A local newspaper reports the victim is in critical but stable condition.

Congressman John Culberson: Why I Oppose Military Intervention in Syria

I am strongly opposed to American military involvement in Syria. One side is Assad and Iran, the other side is Al Qaeda. We have no business supporting either side. America’s job is to protect our vital national interests. The United States has no strategic interest in this conflict, and we have not been directly threatened by the events thus far. The events in Syria are tragic for the innocent people involved, but it does not affect our vital national interests, so I will be voting “no” on the use of force in Syria.

I will be doing everything in my power to encourage my colleagues to join me in opposing military intervention of any kind in Syria unless Israel is threatened.

The President has sent a broad proposal to Congress. President Obama’s proposed mission does not include clear military objectives or clear policy goals.

Employee Misclassification Leads to Worker Abuse - Republicans Fail to Lead on "Rule of Law" Issue

Issues:

The construction industry is rampant with workers who are misclassified as independent contractors when they are really employees, according to a study by the University of Texas. Workers who are misclassified are often abused by their workers and even have wages stolen from them. Now it seems the University of Texas itself has subsidized this illegal and unethical practice during the construction of one of its new student residence luxury apartments. Republican lawmakers have failed to show leadership in coming up with solutions to attack this problem because of behind-the-scenes influences of major home building construction companies. President Obama, Our Armed Forces Are Stretched Too Thin

Issues:

The following is from Texas Land Comissioner Jerry Patterson:

As you know, I'm a retired Marine and Vietnam veteran.

My son Travis, pictured below, is a Marine helicopter pilot with 3 tours under his belt (2 in Iraq and 1 off the Straits of Hormuz). He is the fifth consecutive generation of our family to serve his country in time of war and we have strong opinions about the great military tradition in America.

That shared tradition with my son is one of my greatest joys in life. It is also one of my greatest responsibilities. Read more about President Obama, Our Armed Forces Are Stretched Too Thin

Representative White Opposes Proposed San Antonio City Ordinance: Hostile to Traditional Values and Free Speech

Issues:

The following is a statement from State Representative James White blasting the proposed San Antonio, Texas Ordinance that is Hostile to Traditional Values and Free Speech:

The ongoing attack against religious liberty and free speech has once again come to Texas as the City of San Antonio is set to vote September 5 on a proposed "non-discrimination ordinance" expanding existing prohibitions against discrimination

Video Proves Innocence but Texas Man still Charged; Arresting Officer Terminated – Jefferson County Corruption

Issues:

I recently wrote an article exposing massive corruption in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas. Specifically, a hidden Video was released that shows an illegal arrest and perjury by Democrat Texas Judge Layne Walker and Jefferson County Sheriff Deputies. Jefferson County is no stranger to corruption, from Beaumont Independent School District scandals leading to state takeovers to Beaumont mayors going to jail. Things are bad in this Democrat-controlled East Texas county. Read more about Video Proves Innocence but Texas Man still Charged; Arresting Officer Terminated – Jefferson County Corruption

Freedomworks Introduces Come And Take It

Issues:

Come and take it. What do you think of when you hear those words? If you’re like me, I immediately conjure up an image of a cannon with a star above it. What about the story behind the phrase, though? It has been used numerous times, but the most memorable time was during the Battle of Gonzales when the Texians had been given a cannon by the Mexican authorities to fend off attackers,

San Antonio’s Catholic Heritage At Stake With NDO

The San Antonio Express News failed to mention that on Wednesday, August 23, there were at least 800 Blue shirts for the 2 pm City Council session and over 1000 for the 6 pm meeting. Citizens waited in scorching 98 degrees to be able to give testimony on the proposed non discrimination ordinance. This was the first time that the council convened for the purpose of addressing the NDO which violates our First Amendment Right to Religious Freedom. The NDO is set for a vote on September 5.
