Poe Introduces Bill to Expedite Exports of Natural Gas

Tags:

As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Non-proliferation and Trade, I issued the following statement on H.R. 2471, the “Expedite our Economy Act of 2013,” which would remove the Department of Energy from the LNG export permitting process.

A 1938 law requires any company that seeks to export natural gas to first get approval from the Department of Energy (DOE) before getting separate approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Over the last 70 years, this bureaucratic hurdle was hardly noticed because the U.S. did not have the capability to mass export natural gas. That is no longer true. Technology has changed it all, and the amount of recoverable natural gas in our country has skyrocketed. There are some 18 export applications now

Does the Savagery of New York's Bankruptcy Courts Threaten Your Financial Future? Be Afraid... Be Very Afraid

Gerbers Clawback SuitsDuring my investigation into the bankruptcy courts that began when I was researching the General Motors and Delphi bankruptcies during the 2012 election season, I learned something very interesting. Bankruptcy courts, and in particular the Southern District of New York courts, are hurting a lot of common Americans while, at the same time, making New York investment bankers and their highly paid lawyers very rich. They have been quietly helping President Obama fulfill one of his early campaign promises to use the bankruptcy courts to redistribute wealth in this country.

Smith Responds to President’s Plan to Impose New Energy Regulations

Issues:

As Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman, I released the following statement in response to President Obama’s speech at Georgetown University regarding his plan to bypass Congress and move forward with major new energy regulations.

I am disappointed the President has once again signaled his intent to move forward with new rules that will make energy more expensive for hardworking American families. Just as House Republicans work to expand our nation’s energy potential, the Obama administration is doing the opposite. The President plans to use executive orders to bypass Congress and create more red tape that will increase the price of electricity and gasoline.

Gov. Perry Calls Special Session to Begin July 1st

Issues:

AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry today announced a Special Session of the Texas Legislature will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, July 1st.

"I am calling the Legislature back into session because too much important work remains undone for the people of Texas. Through their duly elected representatives, the citizens of our state have made crystal clear their priorities for our great state. Texans value life and want to protect women and the unborn. Texans want a transportation system that keeps them moving. Texans want a court system that is fair and just. We will not allow the breakdown of decorum and decency to prevent us from doing what the people of this state hired us to do. Read more about Gov. Perry Calls Special Session to Begin July 1st

SOS order on Photo ID for Voters

Issues:

AUSTIN, TX – Texas Secretary of State John Steen today announced that photo identification will now be required when voting in Texas elections. His announcement follows a decision Tuesday by the U.S. Supreme Court that cleared the way for photo ID requirements in Texas, originally passed by the Texas Legislature in 2011, to take effect.

“My office is committed to making sure Texans have all the information they need to vote, including what forms of identification they need now that photo ID requirements are in effect,”

Why is "Gay Rights" Becoming a Pivotal Issue in the Immigration Reform Debate?

US Capitol Dome - House StepsThis morning, while reading the news about the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) decision overturning parts of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), I received a "National Action Alert" from the non-partisan organization, National Write Your Congressman (NWYC), about "Gay Rights" becoming a new, devisive issue in the debate over increasing border security and reforming our broken immigration system.

Is this really an issue that should be included in this debate that is important to both to our economic needs and our national security?  Or, rather, is this yet another gimic by Democrat groups to make certain that Republicans will not support the Gang of Eight bill sponsored by FL Senator Marco Rubio? Pro-Choice Mob Disrupts Texas Abortion Vote, Bill Left Invalid

Issues:

Most recent update: After hours of contemplation, Dewhurst declared that the vote happened after midnight and is invalid. Dewhurst blamed the unruly occupy-acting mob and the Straus House leadership for the failure of the bill. From what I understand, what happened was that the pro-life bill was not able to be voted on in time because the mob was creating

Ambassador John Bolton on UN Arms Control Treaty and Benghazi - A TexasGOPVote Exclusive Interview

Ambassador John Bolton and TexasGOPVotes Bob Price - Exclusive InterviewFormer U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, has been celebrated by conservatives and maligned by liberals and the mainstream media (isnt that the same thing?) for decades. Having served under three Republican presidents (Reagan, Bush 41 and Bush 43), Bolton has built a reputation for being solid on the facts and outspoken with his opinions. TexasGOPVote was privileged this week to speak with Ambassador Bolton in an exclusive interview about
