I issued the following statement today regarding reports President Obama will nominate former Sen. Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense:
I will not support Chuck Hagel’s nomination to the Department of Defense. His record and past statements, particularly with respect to rogue nations like Iran, are extremely concerning to me.
For the politically minded, the 2012 holiday season was defined by frenzy as Washington, D.C. prepared to go over “the fiscal cliff.” With the self-induced crisis solved in the thirteenth hour, all working Americans will see their taxes rise by two percentage points.

Say what you want, Obama may be an economic illiterate but his team can be masterful when it comes to politics. And he managed to get the Republicans to raise marginal tax rates on the “rich” and screw the middle class. At least 77% of Americans will see their taxes go up after this deal, and that is a fact. We should not forget that 75% of the taxes supporting Obamacare will hit the middle class. So much for protecting the middle class. Don't be fooled, the middle class got to keep their Bush tax rates, but they are getting hit by the double whammy of seeing Social Security and Medicare taxes go up by 2 percentage points, and of course, Obamacare. Longtime liberal columnist for the Des Moines Register, Donald Kaul apparently suffered from brain damage when he had a heart attack back in July of last year. At least I hope that is the case and that liberals like him aren't really ready to go around killing lawful gun owners as part of a leftist anti-gun agenda. Kaul's wacked out comments came as part of a holiday season return-from-retirement posting entitled, "Nation Needs a New Agenda on Guns".
After suggesting the NRA be declared a terrorist organization and that Speaker John Boehner and Sen. Congressman John Boehner has won re-election as Speaker of the 2013 United States House of Representatives even though Boehner has recently betrayed conservatives by kicking them off of committees. He also teamed up with Obama in the Fiscal Cliff Deal that raises takes for most Americans without any significant spending cuts.
